Welcome to OneTen Ministries!

I’m so glad you found us…you belong here! Here you will find helpful resources and a community of Christians seeking to live our lives according to Colossians 1:10.

In Colossians 1:10, the Apostle Paul encourages us to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord God, to please Him in every way, to bear fruit in every good work, and to increase in the knowledge of God. I know what you’re thinking, “that seems like a big task!” Well, you’re right. But it is also a very doable task. And He has provided everything we need in order to accomplish this task…or shall I say tasks.

These tasks are also not a one-and-done set of items on our Christian “To Do” lists. These are delightful, ongoing, daily activities and behaviors that spring naturally from a heart in love with God and filled with gratitude for ALL He has done. I see the actions described in Colossians 1:10 not as discrete tasks to be accomplished but as an integrated list of expectations of what we, as believers, can experience as we mature in our faith.

It might be helpful to look at these elements in reverse order.

  1. Increase in the knowledge of God. The triune, Creator God is vast and limitless, yet He longs for us to know Him. He reveals Himself to us through Scripture, through Jesus Christ, through prayer, and through the natural world.

  2. Bear fruit in every good work. The more we know God, the more we are changed. Our old habits and ways of living no longer satisfy. We want to emulate Jesus and follow His commands. We are intrinsically motivated to produce good thoughts and actions so we can be more like Him.

  3. Please Him in every way. The more we grow in our faith and the more we look like Jesus, the more we please God.

  4. Walk in a manner worthy of the Lord. As we mature in our faith, often referred to as our Christian walk, we see the three items above being naturally expressed in our lives. We are walking, albeit imperfectly, in a manner worthy of His sacrifice. We don’t do this to earn our salvation or to earn God’s love or favor. Rather this is the genuine expression of our faith and gratitude as we rely on His strength, submit to His perfect will, and follow His Word to love Him and one another.

OneTen Ministries exists to explore all facets of this verse and to equip Christians to live their lives accordingly…and we will have plenty of fun along the way.
